After a long hiatus, back to Harlowe
Don’t know if it counts as a hiatus if it was three months of the hardest work I’ve ever done, but it’s the thought that counts.
It’s going to feel good to get back to Harlowe, to see what Jen and Singer and the rest have gotten themselves into!
I am badly in need of a break after Last Rites, working a full time job is not conducive to working on a comic that takes 6 to 10 hours per page to draw, but it’s some of the best work I’ve ever done, and I feel that I’ve grown tremendously as an artist thanks to it! But don’t worry, I’ve heard the comments, and I won’t keep you waiting- we’re back to Harlowe April 20th, with a short story exploring some of the other artifacts and oddities found around town, followed by a few longer tales exploring the backstories of some of the other residents, and tying up some final loose ends from Skerritt’s stay in town.

New Chapter and News
The new chapter of Harlowe is up, and you can read it HERE, as always
This chapter is shorter than most, but we’re building up to the finale of this arc now, and things are gonna get crazy in the next one! I hope you’re all ready!
As for the detective project, I’m still hard at work on that one- it’s almost 1/3rd done, so we should be seeing it early in the new year! To tide you over, here’s some more info about one of the other characters:

Chapter 10, and an update on another project

I’m especially proud of this one, there were a lot of really challenging drawings, and it turned out far better than I’d expected it to! The benefits of drawing every day are really starting to show.
I’m very excited, also, to finally start showing some of my next project! I’ve given glimpses, but now I can give the first real details- it’s a much longer project than Harlowe, so I don’t think you’ll be seeing any finished pages until next year. The finished book will be about 90 pages long, hardly War and Peace, but pretty hefty by my standards!
‘Blood Magic: A Cas Bremmer Mystery’ follows our eponymous private eye as he begrudgingly comes out of retirement to search for a missing child. What seems like an ordinary case, however, soon takes a turn for the strange, and Cas’ hunt brings him into contact with strange religions, secret societies, and a whole lot of killing.

Chapter 9, and What Comes Next

Going into this comic, I never intended to have a fanservice character, and I CERTAINLY didn’t think it would be the Viking, but there we are then- I shared some early art for this chapter with the very talented Bean, who was inspired to draw my first piece of Harlowe fanart!

In other news, work on my next project is going swimmingly- I have the whole comic scripted and roughed out, and I’ve begun working on the art! Here’s a little sneak peek:

Chapter 8, and what comes next
Chapter 8 is up now, and it’s a rough one for the residents of Harlowe- you can find out more about that HERE
I won’t lie, this one started off fun, I had a blast drawing the Carpenter Ants, and it was nice getting to draw Jen, Singer, and Heck just relaxing and enjoying the sun, but it won’t last. Like the guy in the well said, bad shit is coming to Harlowe, and I’m afraid it’s going to get worse before it gets better.
In other news, work proceeds apace on the new project, the script is finished, and I’ve started blocking out the rough pages! I’m hoping to have it finished before the end of the year- it’s a fairly hefty project, and I plan to continue with Harlowe once a month, so I don’t want to give a definitive timeline for the finished product yet, so instead I’ll give you an idea what to expect!
One Last Ride is a pulp detective yarn, following Cas Bremmer, a down-on-his-luck PI with ties to a shady secret society, who’s pushed against his will into accepting a strange new case- and things get a whole lot stranger, the deeper he digs!

Chapter 7, and what comes next
Chapter 7 of Harlowe is up, and you can see it HERE
I’ve already started work on chapter 8, and it should post right on time on August 8th! I’ve finally got a pretty solid pipeline for my work, which leads to a small announcement:
Harlowe will continue as planned for at least the next two months, but starting around the end of this year, you’re going to start seeing other works as well! Up next is a three-part story about a private investigator who gets pulled into a missing person case, when things start to get… weird.
I’ve always wanted to write a detective story, and I’m very excited to share more of this story with you all- it’s been burning a hole in my brain for months now, and I’ve finally gotten to a point where I can churn out chapters of Harlowe on a regular schedule and still have time to work on other projects!
I’ll start posting previews of what’s coming soon- the script is written, now it’s time to work on the art!

New Chapter is up, let’s talk about that
The new chapter of Harlowe is up, and as always, you can read it HERE
This chapter is a bit shorter than usual, and there’s two reasons for that- One, I want to explore some of the strangeness of Harlowe without shoe-horning said strangeness into the story. Part of the reason for the 6 month time skip in Chapter 5 is establishing how things just sort of… become normal, with the passage of time. And two: Chapter 7 is going to be pretty nuts- only 15 pages, so it’s not the longest chapter, but it has some pretty challenging stuff to draw, and marks a change in the series thus far. We’re out of the tutorial, so to speak, and into Tales of Harlowe’s first major story arc! I’m excited for what’s coming, and hope you enjoy the ride as much as I’ve enjoyed plotting the course!
Which is not to say this chapter is JUST filler, as always, I snuck in some foreshadowing of things to come, but more on that later.

I still have plans for a different project, but I’ve had to put that on hold for a bit as it’s going to take a lot more groundwork than I had anticipated, it sort of blew up on me and became a lot bigger than I intended- more on that later!
You can expect another Wolfe & Newt strip on the 30th, with the next chapter of Harlowe on June 13th! This next chapter WILL be a bit different, as I want to focus on some of the stranger objects and artifacts that can be found around Harlowe!

Harlowe Chapter 2 is up!
I’ve posted Chapter 2 of Tales of Harlowe. This chapter gives us a bit more backstory on Harlowe in general, and Deputy Singer specifically, as Jen comes to terms with her new home, and the role she’s expected to play in it.
Artistically, I’m much happier with this chapter than I was with the first, buckling down and just putting out pages was exactly the right decision, if I’d let myself wait until I was ‘ready’, I’d never have anything to show for it, and as it is, I’ve grown more as an artist in these past few months than I have in years!
Congratulatory self-back-patting aside, this chapter is a bit talky, mostly focused on exposition- but fear not, chapter 3 will give us some action, as we delve into the story of an important character who’s only been hinted at so far!
I don’t have a date for chapter 3 as of yet, but you can expect to see a new Wolfe & Newt on March 7th.
Posting Schedule
A new Wolfe and Newt strip is up, and we’re establishing a posting schedule!
Consistency is key, so while I work on the next chapter of Harlowe, I’ll continue posting Wolfe and Newt strips.
You can expect to see something new here every 1st and 3rd Monday of the month, a schedule that lets me keep this place stocked with new content, but doesn’t lead to burnout (hopefully!)
Tales of Harlowe is up!
Today is the launch of a short story- the first of many, I hope- set in the town of Harlowe, a small town deep in the forest, that appears on no maps, and haunted by a strange figure known as the Landlord, who ensures that his residents never leave…
On a personal note, this comic is a big deal for me- I’ve wanted to do something like this for most of my life, but I’ve always been crippled with anxiety and fears that I wasn’t good enough, or that I couldn’t do it. I always told myself I was just waiting until I was good enough, until I was ready, but over the past few months, I’ve realized what a trap that is- I’m never going to be ‘ready’, my art will never be ‘perfect’, but I have all these stories to tell, so many stories burning a hole in my skull and I’m not going to let fear trap them inside anymore!
All this to say, I hope you like the story, but if you don’t, that’s fine! I like it, and that’s what matters, and I’m gonna keep making stories, even if it’s just to keep myself sane.

Thanks for visiting the den- There may not be much here to see yet, but more is coming!
Under ‘Comics’, you’ll find the ‘Wolfe & Newt’ comic strip (because what the world needs now is another semi-auto-bio webcomic by a white cis male), but this will be the hub for my comic book efforts!
A more serious tale is currently in the works, a weird fiction tale about the residents of the mysterious town of Harlowe. Where is Harlowe? Who, or what, is the Landlord, and why can no one who visits ever leave again? Answers to these questions, and many more, will NOT be forthcoming, but hopefully you enjoy the ride!
